Cost Data Entry Form - Comments Page

 

The Comments page of the Cost Data Entry form allows you to add comments to cost items. There are two types of comments, general comments and cost history comments. You can show the complete set of each type of comment in the main display box on the right hand side of the page.

 

Comments of either type, once made, cannot subsequently be edited or deleted.

 

General Comments

A general comment can be added to any cost item at any time. For each cost item you can have up to 126 successive comments of 150-200 words, or a single comment of about 20,000 words, or any intermediate combination. To add a comment:

1.   Click on General comments in the Data Display frame on the Comments page.

2.   Insert your comment in the General Comments Input box on the left hand side of the form.

The next time the current cost item is displayed on the Cost Data Entry form, your comment will appear, date stamped, in the main display box on the right hand side.

 

Cost History Comments

Mandrel automatically records all changes made to each cost item, and will display this record on the Comments page. When a change is made you can add an explanatory comment if you wish. To add a comment:

1.   Click on Cost history in the Data Display frame on the Comments page.

2.   Insert your comment in the Cost History Comment Input box on the left hand side of the form.

The next time the current cost item is displayed on the Cost Data Entry form, your cost history comment will appear as part of the standard cost history display, in the main display box on the right hand side.

Cost history comments made when no other change has been made to the cost item will be ignored.
